1962
Shiel Sexton Company was established by Dick Shiel and Tim Sexton. Their initial focus was residential and apartment construction.   After nine years however, they turned their efforts to the commercial construction industry where they spent eight years operating under the name S & S Company before changing back to the original Shiel Sexton name. 

1970’s
The first of many projects were completed for Marsh Supermarkets, Sunbeam Development and Roche Diagnostics – Shiel Sexton continues to do business with them today.

1980’s
Shiel Sexton begins projects at Eli Lilly & Company and DePauw University, establishing key long-term client relationships with both. By 1989, Andy Shiel takes over as President of Shiel Sexton.  

1990’s
Shiel Sexton constructs the Emmis Communications World Headquarters and the Butler University Fairbanks Center for Communication and Technology, work is also completed on the first of many projects for Federal Express. 

2000’s
Shiel Sexton increases its national presence, completing projects in 38 states and establishing the Southeast Operations office in Charlotte, NC. The third generation of Shiel Sexton ownership begins with the introduction of new shareholders from the senior management ranks. The firm’s annual put-in-place revenue now exceeds $500 million.
