Victory Field Renovations

Capital Improvement Board of Managers of Marion County

Shiel Sexton and Cornerstone Construction Group, LLC conducted Preconstruction Services in accordance with public procurement procedures for the CIB to award Prime Contracts.  Work started in October 2023 and continued throughout the Indianapolis Indians 2023-2024 off-season.  Shiel Sexton managed a series of improvement projects at the baseball stadium. The entirety of the playing field was replaced. Replacing the playing field required excavation to remove all previous materials and piping to subgrade.  The new playing field construction required a new subdrainage piping system, gravel drainage material, rootzone growing mix, and irrigation piping placed below the sod. Infield sod was placed before Christmas and outfield sod was placed in late February.  Specialized mix materials were provided for the infield, pitcher’s mound, batter’s boxes, and perimeter warning tracks.  Synthetic turf was provided for bullpens.  The Indianapolis Indians opened their 2024 season successfully to “Play Ball” on April 2.

Other stadium improvements were the following:  The Visitor’s locker area was fully renovated.  The wing features new lockers for the visiting team and staff, a commissary, and a pantry.  The weight room was outfitted with upgraded equipment and the training room refreshed.  Spacious restrooms offer new shower and lavatory stalls.  Enhanced staffing areas were included in the scope.  The press box HVAC cooling system was upgraded. Boilers and domestic water heaters were replaced and a maintenance addition to the south side of the stadium.
